Shot.......?

how many ml are in one shot?

Public Comments

  1. 1 shot = 1.5 fluid ounces = 44.36 milliliters
  2. While the answer seems obvious, a 'shot' can have different meanings which directly equate to the volume in milliliters. Traditionally, a shot is 1.5 fluid ounces or 44.36 ml (1 ounces is 29.5735 ml). However, until recently (like May 2008, I believe), in Utah a shot, or 'measured pour' for a drink was only 1 ounce. So it can vary depending on location. I know of some bars in other states where a shot is 2 ounces.
  3. on average, 1 shot is 1.5 ounces, about 45 milliliters.
  4. At my uncle's bar in his basement, a shot is 1 cup (8 ounces). At my friend's place, a shot is 4 ounces. I hate it when they want to do shots. But everywhere else a shot is 1 1/2 ounces, notwithstanding Mormon Utah and their crappy 3 1/2% beer.
  5. A regular 1.5oz shot in the US is about 45mL. A full shot glass is 50mL, though. Other countries though do nips rather than shots, and they are 1oz, or 30mL.
